Motorcycle vs. car accidents often lead to serious injuries

Not only are  New Jersey motorcycle riders more vulnerable to injuries during an accident, but their small size is often cited by other drivers as the reason they failed to see the motorcycle before a crash. Motorcycle vs. car accidents rarely work out well for those on the motorcycle. The injuries suffered are often much more severe than those suffered by the occupants of a passenger or commercial vehicle.

This fact was recently illustrated in the aftermath of a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle. Preliminary reports indicate that the car was heading east on Route 30 at approximately 12:14 p.m. on a recent Thursday. At the same time, a motorcycle with a rider and passenger was headed in the opposite direction.

The car initiated a left hand turn directly in to the path of the motorcycle, which resulted in the crash. The 28-year-old man and 34-year-old woman riding the motorcycle flew off it during the impact. They both suffered unknown, serious injuries and remained hospitalized at last report. No report was provided regarding any injuries the car driver might have suffered. The investigation remains ongoing, so no indication of what charges, if any, might be filed against the car driver were reported.

That does not mean that the two people injured in this crash cannot exercise their rights to file personal injury claims against the driver. As is the case in other car accidents, if the evidence establishes that their injuries were due to the negligence of another, a New Jersey court could consider an award of damages. Any restitution resulting from a successfully litigated claim could help with the often rapidly mounting expenses and financial losses that follow serious motor vehicle wrecks.
