Following fatal New Jersey crash, wrongful death case possible

While the average person is aware of his or her mortality, the reality of the fragility of life is often difficult to fully fathom. Unfortunately, a slight miscalculation or moment of inattention could profoundly impact the lives of many. For example, a recent crash in New Jersey took the lives of two people. To help cope with the many financial ramifications that come with an unexpected loss of life, a wrongful death lawsuit may be appropriate.

The fatal crash happened one evening on a day in March. According to reports, one of the victims, a 39-year-old woman, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by her 42-year-old fiance. Reports indicate that their vehicle crashed head-on into a vehicle headed in their direction.

While the woman passed away, her 42-year-old fiance remains hospitalized. Family members report that he is set to undergo six more operations, some to repair multiple fractures to his legs. Additionally, there were three occupants in the oncoming vehicle -- a mother and her two daughters. One of the daughters passed away while the mother and second daughter were hospitalized; their conditions are unclear.

Many of the details of the fatal New Jersey crash were not reported. In addition to the emotional ramifications of an unexpected loss, an accident such as this can create significant financial turmoil. Many people who lose a loved one through another's negligence have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A successfully presented case can result in an award of damages that will help surviving family members cope with their loss.
