Pedestrians end up as collateral damage in bus accidents

Accidents on the streets of New Jersey cities do not always involve only the vehicles that crashed. In some cases, other vehicles and pedestrians can become collateral damage in car, truck or bus accidents. Three people were recently injured in an accident between a bus and a car. One of them was a pedestrian who happened to be standing in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Witnesses to the crash reported that they saw the bus making a left turn at an intersection. At the same time, a car in the opposite lane of travel was making a right turn. The two vehicles collided. The car spun into the intersection, and the bus slammed into a Bank of America.

As the bus careened into the building, it hit the pedestrian. Witnesses say that he was not moving after the impact. Emergency personnel took the man to a hospital where he was last reported as being in critical condition.

Reports from witnesses taken by police indicate that the bus driver might have been at fault. One witness recalled that the bus was speeding as it approached the intersection. Another witness said that the light for the bus driver was yellow and that the driver might have been trying to beat the light.

The seriously injured pedestrian will be entitled to file a personal injury claim against all of the parties who may be culpable for the damages he is undoubtedly incurring. Medical expenses, lost wages and other damages typically seen in pedestrian vs. bus accidents may be awarded to the victim if he documents before a New Jersey civil court that his injuries were due to the negligence of one or more parties. Any monies received could be used for his current and future medical needs, as well as other financial losses.
