New Jersey bus accidents may be common

A midnight bus ride turned into a trip to the hospital during a commute. A chain of bus accidents have occurred across the United States -- this time in New Jersey. The driver of a transit bus was involved in an accident that caused multiple injuries. This bizarre two-vehicle crash between the transit bus and a taxi has left nine people injured.

According to reports, the accident occurred just before 1 a.m. Thursday. The driver of the bus was transporting its commuters to Penn Station. Out of nowhere, the driver of a taxi slammed into the bus. The collision was so intense that it sent both vehicles flying across the road and eventually, the bus careened into the front of a building.

Authorities and medical personnel responded to the scene of the accident. Reportedly, a couple of passengers on the bus sustained only minor injuries. The other seven passengers and the bus driver were transported to the hospital for treatment. The bus driver suffered a concussion, but was discharged from the medical facility and the precise injuries suffered by the other passengers have not been reported. The driver of the taxi is also being hospitalized.

Bus accidents may have been considered as infrequent occurrences in the past, but more recently accidents involving buses have become more prevalent. New Jersey authorities are still conducting an investigation in this incident. Depending on the outcome of this continuing investigation, the taxi driver who hit the bus may be deemed the responsible party. The injured victims have the right to pursue litigation against the the taxi or bus driver to recover damages suffered.
