Wrongful death case possible following fatal New Jersey crash

There are many potential distractions in a car. Drivers who attempt to adjust the radio station or send a text message, for example, can quickly cause a deadly accident. Even having a passenger in the car can create distractions for some. As a result, it is necessary for drivers in New Jersey to maintain their focus at all times. Unfortunately, one man recently lost his life in a crash that could potentially result in a wrongful death lawsuit.

The incident happened one morning on a day in May. According to reports, a vehicle was headed west on a New Jersey interstate. State police claim that the driver, a 24-year-old woman, lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The vehicle then exited the roadway before striking a tree and coming to a stop in a median.

Both the driver and a 29-year-old male passenger were transported to the hospital. While the driver is expected to survive, her passenger passed away several hours after the accident occurred. At this time, police do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor, but they are still investigating the incident.

Unfortunately, a simple act that many people would consider relatively innocuous could have devastating effects. The family of this man is now left to plan his funeral as a result of what may have been a completely preventable accident. Many family members in New Jersey who have lost a loved one in such a way choose to pursue damages by filing a wrongful death case. An attorney with experience with such cases can help them fully understand their options and help them choose the most appropriate option.
