Some pedestrian vs. car accidents are premeditated

Depending on a person's temperament, what might begin as a simple argument can become violent. Not many New Jersey residents would consider using a car as their weapon of choice during an altercation, but the fact remains that some pedestrian vs. car accidents are premeditated. One family is questioning why a woman got into her car and ran over their loved one in response to a fight between the driver and the victim.

From the information gathered regarding the incident, the two women had some sort of altercation on a recent Monday night. As the victim left the area on foot, it is alleged that the other woman got into her car. She is said to have accelerated, jumped the curb and run over the unsuspecting woman.

Somehow, the victim got entangled in the vehicle and was dragged for an unspecified distance before the car came to a stop. During the crash, the car also struck a light pole. The pedestrian was last reported as having been transported to a hospital in Jersey City after suffering life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car also suffered unknown injuries for which she was transported to the same hospital.

Depending on her injuries, the victim could be facing a lengthy recovery -- if she is able to fully recover at all. While she is hospitalized and otherwise in need of medical care, she will undoubtedly incur significant medical expenses, lost wages and other damages. Fortunately, she retains the right to file a personal injury claim against the driver. If it is determined by a New Jersey civil court that the driver's actions caused or contributed to the woman's injuries, she could be awarded damages often seen in car accidents.
