1 family lost a loved one, 2 other victims injured in 1-car crash

Sadly, many New Jersey families know what it is like to receive a phone call or visit from police informing them that a family member died in an accident. Understandably, the news is often devastating. Every family who has lost a loved one due to the negligence of another person or persons deserves to know what happened. Further, they have the right to file a wrongful death claim against those believed to be responsible.

It remains to be seen if the family of a 23-year-old New Jersey man will exercise its right to file such a claim in connection with his death in a car accident. Preliminary reports indicate that he was the front seat passenger in a car at approximately 11:30 p.m. on a Monday night. The driver of the car, who remains unidentified, somehow lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle careened into a telephone pole and a tree after it left the roadway. The front seat passenger died, but the driver and the backseat passenger survived. Both suffered severe injuries for which they were transported to a hospital in the area. At last report, their conditions were reported as critical. The crash remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased passenger will be attending to putting him to rest. As anyone who has lost a loved one knows, this can be costly. Recouping those financial losses may be possible through the filing of a civil action in which the appropriate evidence establishes the negligence of the driver. The surviving passenger has a seaparte right to file a personal injury claim, seeking restitution for his expenses and other damages incurred in the aftermath of the crash.
