Wrongful death crash on New Jersey interstate

A man died from injuries sustained in a recent car crash. The car accident, which resulted in a wrongful death, was caused by an alleged drunk motorist who was driving in the wrong direction on a New Jersey interstate. The accident reportedly occurred on an early Friday morning.

A 22-year-old female driver was headed in the westbound direction on the interstate when another female motorist collided with her vehicle head-on. The other motorist was reportedly driving in the wrong direction. The victim's vehicle was carrying multiple occupants, and two of them were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Another occupant, a 25-year-old male, tragically died from his injuries.

The other driver, a 23-year-old female, was also transported to the hospital. It's unknown if she was injured in the incident. Authorities are still investigating the crash, and the motorist was criminally charged with driving under the influence.

Authorities are continuing to investigate, and the alleged drunk driver may face jail time, but that may not be her only penalty. Fatal car accidents can be devastating, and grieving family members of the deceased man may exercise their right to file a wrongful death claim against the responsible driver. If the claims are successful, the court often awards compensatory damages and reimbursement of funeral and/or medical expenses. The other injured passengers may also be entitled to pursue personal injury lawsuits and stake their claims for damages under our laws. In regard to this accident, the civil court system in New Jersey typically resolves these types of matters and financially awards victims or their surviving family members when evidence deems the other party responsible.
